An awesome 1922Bunco Ring Syndicate poster from Denver, Colorado district attorney Phillip Van Cise. This is part of the bringing to justice of the "Million Dollar Bunco Ring," an extensive ring of confidence tricksters that operated for more than 25 years in Denver, Colorado, running "big cons." The poster is 24" x 12 1/2" and seeks information on four of the confidence men.
The Bunco Ring set up rooms resembling stock exchanges and betting parlors to convince tourists to put up large sums of cash to secure delivery of fake stock profits or winning bets. The ring was protected by politicians and law enforcement officials including the mayor and the chief of police. The district attorney on this poster, Phillip Van Cise, bypassed the Denver police and used his own force, funded by secret donations from local citizens, to arrest 33 con men, including the four on this poster.
Very good condition -- especially for a century-old poster -- with two tears on the folds that are less than 1" long. It display really well.
