Original vintageWillys-Overland Whippet running dog radiator-cap mascot, believed to date from approximately1926–1929.
This distinctive period mascot depicts aWhippet greyhound in full running position, mounted above a decorative ribbed support and incorporated into the original-style domed radiator cap. The streamlined running dog is one of the recognizable mascots associated with early Willys-Overland Whippet automobiles.
This is anold, unrestored pieceand is being sold exactly as photographed. It has considerable age and use-related condition issues, making it better suited to an original-car restoration, display, or early automotive mascot collection than someone looking for a newly restored example.
Condition:There is substantial oxidation, discoloration, surface wear and loss/deterioration of the original plated finish. Cracks and age-related deterioration are visible in several areas of the casting and radiator-cap assembly, including the decorative side tabs. There is additional wear and deterioration around portions of the dog and mounting areas. Scratches, pitting, darkened areas and other age-related imperfections are present throughout.
The underside retains its central mounting/fastening hardware as shown.
