The 1936 Dodge ram hood ornament is a classic chrome figure designed by artist Avard T. Fairbanks to symbolize the strength, power, and ruggedness of the vehicles Dodge manufactured at the time.Sculptor Fairbanks originally designed the leaping ram figure for Dodge in 1932, after Walter P. Chrysler expressed a desire for an emblem as attractive as that of a Rolls-Royce, but for a more affordable car—like the Dodge of that era.Fairbanks reasoned that a ram with large, curved horns would lead people to associate the image with the car brand... and he was right!By 1936, the leaping ram figure was being manufactured from a zinc alloy with a brilliant chrome finish; featuring a nearly aerodynamic stance, it was installed on both passenger cars and certain trucks (such as the D5 Series).We are now offering this extraordinary—and absolutely original—hood ornament (it even retains the factory mounting screw). The ram figure is in perfect condition, with virtually no marks or scratches. The base is truncated, as shown in the photos.It measures approximately 14 x 8 x 3 cm.
