Beautifuloriginal 1931 Chevrolet Flying Eagle radiator cap / hood ornamentfeaturing one of Chevrolet's most distinctive early Art Deco designs.
This impressive ornament depicts a streamlined eagle in flight with dramatically swept wings, detailed feathering and flowing supports incorporated into the radiator-cap base. The design captures the transition from the highly sculptural mascots of the 1920s to the streamlined automotive styling of the early 1930s.
This appears to be anoriginal period piece, not a modern reproduction. The chrome-plated finish displays very well and retains excellent detail throughout the eagle, wings and supports. There is expected age-related wear, light pitting, surface marks and finish deterioration consistent with an approximately 95-year-old automotive ornament.
