1936 Alf Landon Notification Pinback Button 2.25\" LAN-2003 Topeka July 23 Pin:
$425.00

You are buying an original 1936 Alf M. Landon Notification pinback button — a distinctive and historically specific piece of American presidential campaign memorabilia.
What Makes This Button Significant:
This is not a standard Landon campaign button. It specifically commemorates the formal Republican Party Notification Ceremony held in Topeka, Kansas on July 23, 1936 — the official occasion when Landon was informed of his presidential nomination. Event-specific campaign buttons of this type were produced in far smaller quantities than general campaign buttons and are considerably harder to find.
Description:
Large 2-1/4” diameter celluloid pinback. Brown and gold colorway featuring a real photo portrait of Alf M. Landon. Text reads “ALF M. LANDON’S NOTIFICATION / TOPEKA, JULY 23, 1936” around the portrait. Copyright mark and union bug (maker’s mark) visible at lower right of the face. Brass straight pin mechanism on reverse. Back shows age-appropriate light oxidation spotting on the metal, typical of 90-year-old celluloid buttons.
Historical Context:
Alf Landon, then-Governor of Kansas, ran as the 1936 Republican presidential nominee against Franklin D. Roosevelt. He lost one of the most lopsided elections in U.S. history, carrying only Maine and Vermont — which makes surviving Landon campaign material from 1936 actively collected by political memorabilia specialists.
Condition: Face is clean and sharp with no cracks, fading, or foxing to the celluloid. Reverse shows normal age oxidation to the metal. Pin mechanism intact and functional. Please review all photos carefully.
Size: 2-1/4 inches diameter.
Shipping: Tracked and insured. Buyer pays actual shipping.
