A holy grail in the world of vintage Montblanc pens....a platinum striated celluloid Push Button filler!!!!One of the RAREST pens I have ever had here! This is the ULTRA RARE 224PL !The Collectable Stars books rates the rarity of this version at the extremely high No.10 !!
The PBF - Push Button filling system was a Montblanc patent which basically was a button filler but the blind cap didn\'t have to be taken off ( and lost ! )...the blind cap is unscrewed and simply pressed to fill then screwed back on. Ingenious! This platinum celluloid is one of the MOST sought after celluloids from MB and is extremely scarce and stunning! This is the fare rarer large size model 224, the larger size version of the PBF...it\'s considered a holy grail in vintage MBs. It\'s simply stunningly beautiful! Maginal celluloid and different from every angle!This particular pen was originally bought in Prague around 1936 and has now been fully restored. I have had it for years and the pen came with little story that was shared by the original owner with me. The gentleman first had the nib ground to stub BB nib, which is delightful. Then, the pen was never really used much because the cap got burnt in a silly accident….a clean single hole developed in the celluloid around 1939...then it just never got used again! Nowhere else was it damaged or burnt, just on single place! But it was never used again! That has now fully been restored with vintage celluloid and the results are really wonderful. Smooth to the touch and very very strong as well. A new sac fitted. All else was amazingly intact! All imprints included...superb!! Now the pen is. MINT again and fully working! Such a rare rare example with a most chequered history! Bought back to life and it\'s a stunner!
