This postcard is labeled Cunard White Star Line Btitannic. This is actually the Georgic, the sister ship to the Britannic. The signature of the artist, James S Mann can be seen in the lower left corner. The back is postmarked 1938 Tuaim Ui Mheadhra which in Irish Gaelic means “tomb of the O’Mearas“
The message on the back indicates the writer did not get seasick, and they bicycled about 20 miles which is probably why it is postmarked in Toomevera Ireland
This is an extraordinary piece of postal and transatlantic history
This postcard comes from the collection of Charles Ira Sachs. It was stored in a protective sleeved in non-smoking environment.
