Original 1939 Wyandotte pressed-steel promotional advertising car made for Roi-Tan Cigars and Sophie Tucker’s CBS radio program. The double-sided lithographed metal sign advertises both the “An Auto a Day Is Given Away” promotion for a brand-new 1939 Chevrolet and Sophie Tucker’s Roi-Tan radio show, broadcast on CBS Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Period trade reporting confirms Roi-Tan sponsored Tucker’s CBS program beginning in late 1938, and surviving examples identify this as a Wyandotte promotional piece.
Red pressed-steel automobile with original white wheels and removable-style advertising marquee fitted through the body. Approximately 4 1/2 inches long and about 5 inches tall overall. Displays considerable original paint loss, scratching, surface wear and age-related wear to the car, with additional edge and surface wear to the lithographed sign.
