“19th Tuxis & Older Boys’ Parliament of Manitoba & North Western Ontario – 1940.”
This historic black-and-white photograph shows participants of the Tuxis & Older Boys’ Parliament, a youth parliamentary program held in the Manitoba Legislative Building in Winnipeg. The program brought young men from across Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario together to participate in a model parliament and civic leadership program.
The photograph features dozens of participants and leaders posed beneath the Manitoba provincial coat of arms inside the legislative chamber.
Items related to early Canadian youth government programs and pre-WWII civic organizations are increasingly sought after by collectors of Canadian historical memorabilia.
