Back when presidents first actually began to campaign for that high office, during Andrew Jackson\'s time, presidential campaign biographies began to surface so that voters could read about the life stories of the (usually) famous men who were asking for their votes. By 1948 (and the following years of Eisenhower, Stevenson, Kennedy, Nixon, Johnson and Goldwater), it seems the public had descended into the need to put life stories of presidential candidates into comic book form. The advent of TV, short attention spans and the decline of public education may have all lead to this happening.
So, when sitting democrat president, Harry Truman, ran for re-election after taking over from Franklin Roosevelt who had died in office in 1945, the Democratic National Committee was responsible for putting out this pulp paper comic book telling about Harry\'s life. Making this 1948, 10\" x 7\" item \"official.\" (How sad.)
We can\'t think of an earlier presidential campaign biographical comic book, can you? This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with it.
