PUBLISHED IN NEW YORK IN 1950 TO HONOUR THE NEWBORN STATE OF ISRAEL: 31 ESSAYS, MEMOIRS, STORIES AND POEMS ON JERUSALEM AND THE LAND, BY THE LEADING HEBREW WRITERS OF AMERICA
A TRIBUTE FROM JERUSALEM\'S SONS ABROAD
Two years after Israel declared independence, the society of Jerusalem-born Jews living in America turned its yearbook into a single volume dedicated to the new state. Its editor, born in Jerusalem himself, gathered eyewitness memoirs, historical studies and poetry about the Land of Israel, much of it on the old Jewish community of Jerusalem that the writers had known first-hand.
