This is a rare vintage die-cut mechanical fan titled \"Fishin\' Pals\", printed in the USA and designed by A. Scheer. Manufactured by Geiger Bros. of Lewiston, Maine, and patented under U.S. Patent No. 2,449,701, this advertising novelty dates to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s. This piece was custom-printed for the Ogden Van Assen Funeral Home in Elizabeth, New Jersey, whose address and phone number appear on the reverse in stylish period typography.

The front of the fan features a charming full-color lithographed image of a young boy in a straw hat and plaid shirt sitting with his Collie dog beside a tree. When the two movable die-cut side panels are opened, the full pastoral scene is revealed: the boy is shown fishing at a calm pond, with his loyal canine companion by his side. The vibrant imagery evokes midcentury Americana and the idealized rural childhood of the postwar period.
