Item Description:
Up for sale is a spectacular, investment-grade piece of soda advertising history: an original vintage Pepsi-Cola Starr \"X\" Stationary Bottle Opener, complete with its exceedingly rare original factory cardboard box.
This is not a modern reproduction. The opener features the iconic, crisp debossed Pepsi-Cola script logo accented in brilliant red paint. The lower body is stamped with the official casting hallmark: \"STARR X - PATENT 2333088 - BROWN MFG. CO. NEWPORT NEWS, VA.\" The side panel of the box proudly reads: \"MANUFACTURED EXCLUSIVELY BY BROWN MFG. CO. NEWPORT NEWS, VA.\"
Condition Details:
• The Opener (Mint Condition): This opener is in unused condition, retaining its original bright metal luster. The red enamel paint fill in the cursive script logo is bold, crisp, and 100% complete with no chipping. The casting is flawless, the mounting holes are completely clean, and the under-lip shows zero signs of cap strikes or mounting wear.
• The Original Box (Excellent Vintage Condition): The fragile red-and-white graphic box is remarkably well-preserved. It displays beautiful vintage typography showing an illustration of the opener in action. It remains structurally sound with vibrant colors. There is only minor, honest edge softening and vintage storage wear from decades of careful preservation.
Collector\'s Note:
While loose Starr X wall-mount openers can still be found today, finding an original example that was never mounted, paired with a surviving, clean factory box, is incredibly rare. Most of these boxes were discarded immediately upon installation in general stores, taverns, or home kitchens. This set makes an absolute centerpiece addition to any premium Pepsi-Cola, gas station, or vintage barware collection.
The item will be wrapped securely in protective bubble wrap and shipped in a sturdy outer box to prevent any damage to the fragile vintage cardboard. Please view all photos to confirm its flawless cosmetic state. Let me know if you have any questions!
