1964 Democratic National Convention Special-Event License Plate — Atlantic City, New Jersey
1964 — 6 x 11 inches
Original special-event license plate associated with the 1964 Democratic National Convention held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, August 24–27. The plate features red lettering, blue embossed registration characters “AH23” and “NJ,” and a blue Democratic donkey emblem. It bears the convention name, the date “Aug. 24,” and an expiration date of September 3, 1964.
The plate’s registration-style format and convention-specific expiration date are consistent with New Jersey’s special-event plates issued for the convention. The 1964 gathering nominated President Lyndon B. Johnson for a full term and Senator Hubert H. Humphrey for vice president. An interesting piece of mid-century political history and convention memorabilia.
