Original silver medal issued in connection with the historic 1964 stage of construction of the Aswan High Dam (Sadd El-Aali) and Egyptian-Soviet cooperation on the project.

The diversion of the Nile in May 1964 marked a major stage in the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev visited Egypt for the occasion, and the Sadd el-Aali “Diversion of the Nile River” medal is documented among his Egyptian awards.
