METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER STUDIO
SeƱor Droopy(1949)
two (2) original production animation drawings
red and black pencil on two (2) untrimmed 10.5" x 12.5" animation sheets, image size: 2.5" x 2.5" and 7" x 5.75"
These two (2) final animation drawings of Droopy as a matador and his adversary the Bull were created by M-G-M animators in production of the animated cartoon directed by Fred "Tex" Avery, and cel paintings were made directly from them. The drawing of Droopy is an animator's extreme. The cels were photographed in the same scene (65) of the cartoon. Droopy and the Wolf compete in a contest of matadors to win the favor of M-G-M starlet Lina Romay. The Bull defeats both matadors then takes out a pencil and draws a mustache and beard on Droopy's picture of Ms. Romay. This cartoon can be viewed on youtube.
The animator wrote the studio designations "47A" and "72" at lower right to indicate each original's place in the scene. M-G-M Studio stamp denoting production and scene number appears at the bottom of each sheet. Our certificate of authenticity is included.
