Bioactive Cleanup Crew Bundle: Temperate Springtails (1000+) + 35 Powder Blue Isopods
Kickstart or upgrade your bioactive enclosure with the ultimate detritivore dream team. This bundle combines two of the most robust, hard-working, and prolific cleanup crew species available, ensuring your terrarium or reptile habitat stays clean, healthy, and beautifully balanced.
What’s Included in This Bundle:
Temperate Springtails (Collembola): A thriving starter culture. These tiny, moisture-loving powerhouses specialize in targeting mold, fungus, and decaying plant matter in the hard-to-reach micro-crevices of your substrate. (1000+)
35 Powder Blue Isopods (Porcellionides pruinosus): A generous count of 35 active, healthy individuals. Known for their beautiful, soft blue-gray hue and distinct powdery sheen, these isopods are lightning-fast consumers of larger organic waste, shed skin, and decaying leaf litter.
Why the Powder Blue & Springtail Duo Works
This combination provides a comprehensive two-tiered waste management system for your enclosure:
The Heavy Lifters: Powder Blues tackle the macro-waste. They quickly break down larger pieces of organic material, reptile droppings, and leaf litter, turning it into nutrient-rich soil.
The Mold Patrol: Springtails handle the micro-waste. They consume the microscopic fungi and mold spores that thrive in warm, humid setups, preventing outbreaks before they can harm your plants or inhabitants.
Perfect Coexistence: These two species live in total harmony, sharing the same environmental preferences (moderate to high humidity with a dedicated dry gradient) without competing destructively for resources.
Habitat Suitability
This dynamic cleanup crew is perfect for a wide variety of bioactive setups, including:
Tropical and sub-tropical reptile/amphibian terrariums (Dart frogs, Crested Geckos, Day Geckos, etc.)
High-humidity invertebrate enclosures (Millipedes, Isopod hobby bins)
Closed tropical plant terrariums and vivariums
Quick Setup & Acclimation Tips
Create a Moisture Gradient: Ensure your substrate has a highly humid side (under a piece of cork bark or damp sphagnum moss) where the cleanup crew can retreat to hydrate.
Introduce Gently: Gently dump the springtail culture directly onto your substrate. For the Powder Blue isopods, place their shipping container close to a hiding spot (like leaf litter or cork bark) and let them wander out at their own pace.
Feed the Crew: While they will forage for natural waste, supplementing them once or twice a week with a pinch of specialized isopod food, nutritional yeast, or a slice of squash will help your colony establish rapidly!
Culturing & Care Info:
Temperature: Thrive between 70°F - 85°F.
Humidity: Prefer a moisture gradient (one damp side of the enclosure, one dry side) with high ventilation.
Diet: Leaf litter, decaying wood, calcium supplements, and supplemental veggie/pellet scraps.
