509th Composite Group, Great Artiste Signed Short Snorter, Enola Gay For Sale

Good evening, what I am listing tonight, is the only one-dollar Hawaii emergency issue Short Snorter that I can offer that was signed by six of the twelve men that flew on the B29 named and nose art painted after the war "The Great Artiste" The men who signed this bill flew the plane on August 6th with the "Enola Gay" as the Scientific Instrument plane. The function of this plane and crew was to drop parachutes with a device called a "bang meter" that contained a microphone which transmitted the sound of the bomb back to the plane.

The sound was recorded on movie film (the technology of the era), the scientists on board the plane were able to convert the sound to explosive force (20,000 tons of TNT)

Early on I realized that to obtain a crew signed short snorter would be impossible to obtain so I created my own. Since the time this was created, I was gifted Don Albury's Short Snorter and Wyatt Duzenbury's (Enola Gay Flight Engineer)

Those who signed are Sgt. Ray Gallagher (Asst.Flight Engineer) Lawrence Johnston (Scientist) Capt.C.D.Albury (Pilot) John Kuharek (Flight Engineer) Maj.Charles Sweeney (Pilot in Command) and Harold Agnew (Scientist) All are veterans of the 509th Composite Group

do not use A-I descriptions, I was Chairman for 17 Reunions and personally knew the Veterans and asked them to autograph.

Know your source when purchasing autographed 509th Composite Group Items, why put a ugly PSA sticker on such a beautiful item.I acquired every Item that I sell, from the Veterans.
