A sepia-toned \"Real Photo\" postcard, titled at the bottom in bold caps:
BOYS WILL BE BOYS.
It\'s a staged, humorous scene set inside a 3rd class railway carriage - you can see the \"3RD\" sign on the back wall and the wooden compartment with luggage racks.
On the left bench: a young man in a bowler hat, suit and tie, has his arm around a young woman in a long dark dress and fur-trimmed hat. He\'s holding his hands up in mock surprise / protest.
On the right bench, facing them: two boys are playing a prank on them. One boy in a flat cap is leaning forward, holding a lit cigarette up to the man\'s face, as if teasing him while he\'s trying to be romantic. A smaller boy in a cap next to him is grinning directly at the camera, in on the joke. Behind them, another couple is also cuddled up, laughing.
It\'s classic Edwardian British saucy humor - circa 1905-1915. The joke is that the boys are interrupting / mocking the courting couples.
