Marvel Feature #4 (July 1972) marked a major milestone in Bronze Age comic history by introducing \"The Astonishing Ant-Man\" as a solo feature. Published by Marvel Comics under Editor-in-Chief Stan Lee, this landmark issue brought Hank Pym back into the microscopic spotlight after a hiatus from his own dedicated adventures.

Creative Team: Written by Mike Friedrich and Roy Thomas, with interior and cover pencil/ink artistry by the legendary Herb Trimpe.

Plot Synopsis: The story features Hank Pym reverting back to his Ant-Man persona (while reflecting on his past iterations as Giant-Man and Yellowjacket in flashbacks) to battle classic and new threats alike. The issue also includes appearances by Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and the first appearance of the character M\'sieu Tete.

Hank Pym and a young university research assistant named Peter Parker are working together in Dr. Curt Connors\' lab. A group of gangsters invades the laboratory, revealing they have kidnapped Connors\' young son, Billy, to extort a new experimental drug Connors has been developing.

To protect Connors from the stress (which would trigger his transformation into the Lizard), Hank and Peter intervene. The criminals inject Hank and Peter with a specialized viral drug before Hank pursues the escaping boy. Hank successfully rescues Billy, but he is horrified to discover that the viral drug has chemically interacted with his Pym Particles, permanently trapping him at insect size (roughly the size of a field mouse). While Spider-Man defeats the remaining mobsters behind the scenes, Hank realizes he cannot return to normal height.
