ANTIQUE Victorian Figural Brass Cigar Cutter Match Holder Tobacciana Smoking Tray
Ornate circa 1885–1900 tobacciana desk accessory designed for a gentleman’s smoking tableor writing desk, combining a guillotine cigar cutter, match holder, and smoking tray in one decorative heavy cast brass piece.
Stylistically consistent with late-Victorian Continental European tobacciana, likely produced for export from Belgium or France circa 1885–1900.
The tray features elaborate Rococo scrollwork and two theatrical figural relief panels framed within arched architectural surrounds resembling a stage proscenium. One panel depicts a gentleman seated at a table, while the opposite panel shows a woman holding a candle near a staircase — classic Victorian genre scenes popular in decorative metalwork of the period.
Mounted above the tray is a guillotine-style cigar cutter with patinated metal handle.
The cutting blade currently installed is marked “Craftsman.” This appears to be a later replacement blade, which is not uncommon for antique cigar cutters where original blades wore out over time.
Originally designed for use on a gentleman’s smoking table, the tray served several functions:

• catching ash
• collecting cigar clippings while trimming cigars
The deep relief casting, two figural panels, and elevated cutter design are characteristic of late-Victorian Continental European smoking accessories.
