Antique Japanese Cast Iron Suiban / Bonsai Water Tray – Footed Rectangular Jardinière
A beautiful, heavy antique/vintage Japanese cast iron suiban (traditional water display tray). This footed, rectangular vessel features wonderful rustic character, a classic low-profile silhouette, and decorative relief work along the exterior walls.
Because it does not have drainage holes, it was traditionally used as a water tray to display viewing stones (suiseki), ikebana flower arrangements, or to hold potted bonsai trees. It is an incredibly sturdy, substantial piece that adds an authentic, rustic Asian aesthetic to any collection or garden display.
Dimensions:

Condition Report:
This piece is in authentic, weathered antique/vintage condition. It possesses a beautiful, genuine aged patina. As shown clearly in the close-up photographs, the dark original surface coating is cracking and flaking on the interior floor, revealing natural orange iron oxide (rust) underneath. The metal itself remains structurally sound, heavy, and solid with no cracks through the body. There are no visible maker's marks or signatures on the base.
Please review all photos carefully as they form the primary part of the item condition description.
