Beautiful antique Cornell University souvenir plate made by Royal Doulton for Rothschild Bros. of Ithaca, New York, dating to approximately 1904–1906.The center features a portrait of Ezra Cornell, the university’s 1865 founding date, and the inscription:“I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.”The wide cobalt-blue border is decorated with architectural scenes of Cornell campus buildings and university emblems, all set against a classic white ground.The reverse is marked Royal Doulton England and Rothschild Bros., Ithaca N.Y., U.S.A.This is a wonderful piece of early Cornell University history and would make a great addition to a collegiate memorabilia, Royal Doulton, blue-and-white transferware, or Ithaca, New York collection.Measurements:
