A beautiful piece of family and church history: an antique chromolithograph marriage certificate, copyright 1904 by Meyer & Brother of Chicago (design No. 24), filled in by hand in gold ink and framed under glass. The certificate records the marriage of Menno Miller and Edna Wittmer, both of Middlebury, Indiana, united in Holy Matrimony on the 26th day of October 1924 at The Griner Church, Middlebury, Indiana, by Solomon Swartzentruber of Pigeon, Michigan. Witnesses were Elizabeth Wittmer and Levi Miller. Miller, Wittmer, and Swartzentruber are well-known Amish and Mennonite family names in the Middlebury area, so this would be a meaningful find for a family historian or genealogist researching those lines. The artwork is lovely — a spray of cream and blush roses with two white doves — with the verses "Marriage is honorable in all. Heb. 13, 4" and "What therefore God hath joined together let not man put asunder. Matt. 19, 6."CONDITION — please read and see all photos: the certificate itself has honest age damage. There are tears and old tape repairs along the right edge, creases and fold lines, edge losses, and overall toning. The artwork and all the handwriting remain clear and legible. It is framed in a wood frame (framing date unknown; the frame appears vintage as well) with a paper dust back and wire hanger, ready to hang.Measurements:
