Antique 19thC 17th Century Style Spanish ~ German Comb Morion 2 Piece HelmetCirca 17th Century Style Spanish or German Comb Morion Helmet, possibly an 19thC theatrical piece. The two-piece steel helmet is traditional 17thC infantry form, with crested skull with upturned front and rear brim with rolled edges. Hand hammered brass lining rivets, no lining present. Dark patina / oxidation showing age wear, surface abrasions, minor pitting. No major dings or missing rivets. Last photo shows some solder/welding in a possible slight repair to the interior. Measures 12.5\" height, 13\" width. Unpackaged weight is 3 pounds.
As a side note, after researching I truly believed this to be an authentic 17thC helmet. With 30 years in the antique trade I do not see flags to indicate otherwise aside from the welding/solder repair. To be clear, this is not a recent reproduction, it has significant authentic age, however I have been told it is likely a theatrical piece from the 1800\'s so I am offering it as such. Please come to your own conclusions; I have lowered the price significantly.
