Charming antique Austrian Vienna bronze miniature depicting a young blacksmith standing beside an anvil, holding a raised hammer, mounted on a polished black stone base.
Dating to approximately 1900–1920, this decorative miniature combines detailed sculptural modelling with the playful humour associated with traditional Viennese bronze figures.
Design & Craftsmanship
The young blacksmith is portrayed wearing a work apron, with one hand raised holding a hammer above a finely modelled anvil.
An amusing detail is revealed when the sculpture is viewed from behind: the figure\'s exposed backside adds a humorous character to the composition.
The figure features expressive facial details, carefully modelled hair, clothing, hands and legs, together with the miniature anvil and its supporting block.
