Description
This antique Pietà statue dates to the late 1800\'s or early 1900\'s and was crafted in Belgium. Made of wood and plaster with a painted finish, it depicts the Virgin Mary supporting the body of Jesus beneath a tall, cloth-draped cross. Mary\'s deep green mantle and muted red robe contrast with the pale tones of Christ\'s figure and the rocky base.The composition rests on a shaped pedestal with gold-colored lettering across the front. Flowing drapery, expressive faces, and the broad arrangement of Christ\'s figure give the sculpture a strong devotional presence. The cross rises behind Mary, bringing the overall height to 30.5 inches.Like all our antiques, it was thoughtfully sourced in Europe, imported to our Oregon warehouse, and carefully finished with antique-grade paste wax to preserve its beauty for years to come.Condition
