DETAILS: Estate item;Philadelphia, PA. Antique Lucy cigarette tray by Richards, Germanyadvertising an elixir courtesy of Fred Dolle's, Chicago, Illiniois. Circa 1900.These trays were typically used in brothels by "Lucy's" (aka Loosie Girls), women who soldloose cigarette to men. Because of brothel rules forofferdingneedless touching, the cigarettes were given to the buyer in a tray and payment returned in the same manner,allwhilethe female attendant stood still holding the tray upright. Encased in glass on the top of the tray is photographic advertisement for Fred Dolle's Triumph Hair Vigor, a popular elixiralso sold at houses of ill repute. Itwas said to "reinvigorate" when imbibed. Measures 7.5" x 4.25" x .5"inches. Rare.
