Antique Catholic Last Rites Shadow Box with The Pieta Virgin Mary and Jesus
This item was traditionally used by priests when administering the Last Rites to the sick or dying within the Catholic faith. It may also be used by others as a devotional shadowbox or altar, serving as a place to pay homage, reflect, and pray.
The centerpiece depicts the Virgin Mary holding the deceased Jesus in her lap following the Crucifixion. The words “Blessed Be Thy Holy Name” are printed on the glass front, surrounded by Catholic symbols and angels along the border. A print of the iconic scene from “The Last Supper” is on the storage box door.

NOTES: This item is in Fair condition. Very sturdy built. Ceramic Virgin Mary and Jesus are firmly in place. Wooden casing and frame have no breakage and weak areas. The backing paper has quite of bit wear and ripping (see photos). By what it appears, this item is very old. There is some staining inside the storage box (see photos with little door opened). Overall very beautiful item.
