Substantial antique copper cauldron or kettle featuring a beautifully aged copper body, heavy rolled rim, and two opposing iron carrying handles secured with large riveted mounting straps. This impressive 16-pound vessel displays the rugged construction and authentic character associated with traditional utilitarian copperware.
Believed to date to the late 19th or early 20th century, approximately 1880–1920, although its precise age and origin have not been established. The richly developed dark brown copper patina, areas of green oxidation, weathered iron fittings, and extensive surface wear give this piece an appealing primitive aesthetic.
The rounded bowl-shaped body features a thick rolled copper rim, visible interior rivets, and substantial iron handles. The bottom exhibits noticeable dents and deformation consistent with extensive previous use or handling.
