Offered is an antique Doulton Burslem "Sakura Blossom" Lidded Jar Urn. It is an earthenware or porcelain piece crafted in England, typically dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century.
It features an elegant Chinoiserie or Japonisme style with an intricate "Oriental Spray" or "Sakura Blossom" floral design. It relies on a classic contrast of cobalt/navy blue and a textured cream background, accented by heavily detailed gilt (gold) highlights and raised gold dots. Variations of this particular shape and pattern from the Doulton Burslem factory were popular as covered storage urns, ginger jars, or biscuit barrels.
In very good condition. The finial has some paint chips. Under the lid has some rough feel. It’s from time of production because it’s under the paint. Minor wear as expected from age.
