The stars sit within an ornate arrangement of pointed panels, paired curling scrolls, and raised ribs that follow the flask’s curved sides. Pronounced orange-peel texture brings the surface alive in the light. The broad faces show brighter teal aqua, while the thicker edges and base deepen to a darker teal.
Mold, Maker & Date
This is the McKearin GIX-31 half-pint double-star scroll flask, dating approximately 1845–1860, most likely around the 1850s. Specialist sale catalogs attribute GIX-31 examples probably to Louisville Glass Works in Louisville, Kentucky. Because this flask is unmarked, that remains a researched attribution rather than a confirmed maker’s mark.
Its sheared lip and visible pontil scar show the handwork involved in finishing an early mold-blown flask. It was made as a decorative spirits container, originally closed with a cork; its specific first contents are unknown (albeit, whiskey is the most likely candidate).

Approximately 5¾ inches tall × 4 inches wide. Half-pint form.
Condition
Lovely condition—bright, clean, and shiny, with no chips, no cracks, no scratches, and no haze. Only faint dust rests on the interior floor. The bubbles, rippling, and orange-peel texture are characteristics of its early manufacture.
