Description
Antique Hilger & Sons hand sheep shears measuring approximately 10.5 inches overall. The shears feature two long pointed steel blades, extended handles and a rounded bow-style spring at the end.

One blade is stamped HILGER & SONS in an arched maker’s mark near the hinge area. No other clearly readable model, patent or country-of-origin markings were found in the photographed areas.

This traditional hand-operated design was commonly used for clipping sheep’s wool and similar agricultural trimming work. Squeezing the handles brings the cutting blades together, while the spring-shaped bow separates the handles after pressure is released.

The dark aged patina and visible workshop wear give the piece strong primitive farm-tool character. It would suit an antique tool collection, sheep-farming display, agricultural décor, rustic wall arrangement or restoration project.
