Antique J.B. Jenning Brothers 140 Two Horse Heads Brass Inkwell Holder No Insert
This beautifully designed inkwell is of solid construction and in excellent condition.The piece is made of solid brass with its original, even aged patina and the compact silhouette characteristic of the 140 model. The hinged lid is very good and works well, opening and closing smoothly. The back shows the authentic Jennings Brothers trademark stamp reading “Trade Mark J.B. Signifies The Best 140”, confirming the maker and model. This example is offered without the glass insert, leaving the well open.
Condition is VERY GOOD, with nice even patina, a strong hinge, and no breaks, cracks, dents, or repairs. Measurements are 8.5\" L × 3.5\" W × 4\" H, with the height taken at the highest point at the front edge of the back ridge. Weight is 2 lb 12.2 oz, consistent with early 1900s JB cast brass construction. A handsome and well‑preserved Jennings Brothers equestrian inkwell, desirable for collectors and an excellent desk display.
