A wonderfully decorative antique James Keiller & Sons Dundee Marmalade stoneware jar, produced by the renowned Maling pottery of Newcastle.The cream-glazed jar features the classic black transfer-printed advertising design, commemorating the Grand Medal of Merit awarded in Vienna in 1873 and the Prize Medal for Marmalade awarded in London in 1862. The underside bears an impressed “Maling Newcastle” factory mark.Dating from the late Victorian to early 20th-century period, these iconic jars were originally used as commercial packaging for Keiller’s famous Dundee marmalade.
