Antique Mater Dolorosa Silvered Medal Our Lady of Sorrows Seven Swords PendantSIZE: 2.0 x 2.3 Cm2.3 gramsBeautiful Antique Catholic Devotional Medal โ Mater Dolorosa (Our Lady of Sorrows)Up for sale is a lovely, highly detailed antique Catholic devotional medal dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa). This striking piece stands out due to its classic dramatic iconography and beautifully ornate scalloped border.
- Obverse (Front): Features a beautiful, high-relief portrait of the sorrowful Virgin Mary weeping, her head veiled. Her exposed heart is pierced by seven swords (or daggers), which biblically symbolize the Seven Sorrows of Mary. It features the Latin title \"MATER DOLOROSA\" on the left and right, along with the word \"PAZ\" (Peace) stamped in Spanish at the bottom right. The entire scene is enclosed in a highly decorative, beaded scallop frame.
- Reverse (Back): Displays a smooth, unengraved silvered finish with a soft, authentic age patina. This plain reverse makes it an excellent candidate for a buyer to personalize with a custom monogram or memorial engraving.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. The silver-plated finish has aged wonderfully, developing a deep contrast in the recessed lines of Mary\'s veil and the beaded border. It features a sturdy, integrated top suspension loop and an attached jump ring. Please examine all high-resolution photos carefully to determine the exact cosmetic condition for yourself.
