A gorgeous set of six antique Moriyama Mori-Machi plates, made in Japan circa the late 1920s.
Each approximately 9-inch plate features an exuberant multicolor floral design in shades of pink, purple, coral, yellow, blue and green, framed by a deep cobalt blue border with ornate gold detailing. The center features a beautiful floral arrangement with a stylized urn — wonderfully decorative and very much of the period.
The scalloped, softly squared shape makes these especially striking on a table or displayed as part of a collected china wall.
Each plate is marked on the reverse with the Moriyama floral-basket mark as well as the colorful MM / Made in Japan backstamp associated with Moriyama Mori-Machi.
Set includes 6 matching plates, approximately 9 inches across.
Antique condition with age-related crazing, wear to the gilding/decorated surfaces and minor signs of use. The degree of crazing varies from plate to plate and is visible in the photos. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.
A fabulous surviving set for a Moriyama collection, maximalist table, grandmillennial decor or beautifully mismatched vintage dinnerware.
Additional pieces in this matching pattern are available in separate listings.
