A handsome pair of Victorian Early American Pattern Glass in Northwood\'s \"Royal Oak\" pattern, offered together as a matched set.Both pieces are mold-blown with a satin acid-frosted ground, against which the oak leaf and acorn motif stands out in clear, brilliant glass. The contrast between the soft frosted surface and the polished raised design is what makes this pattern so recognizable, and it photographs beautifully in daylight.Royal Oak was introduced by the Northwood Glass Company around 1889–1890, during the firm\'s earliest years under Harry Northwood. The frosted crystal treatment seen here is the original production finish.The pitcher has a generous bulbous body, a square crimped rim, and a smooth applied clear glass handle — a hand-finished detail typical of quality Victorian tableware.
