1. Condition:

Blades: Excellent, 98-99% steel remaining, don’t seem to be sharpened, not sharp, slight noticeable wobble under force.

•Handle: Wood (unknown), 2 cracks on the bottom pin, tiny chips on the sides, no gaps.

•Snap & Pull: Perfect -Ideal compared to modern knives, excellent compared to Sheffield’s golden era knives, Strong crisp Snap, easy-normal pull (both blades).

•Heraldic eagle medallion inlay: The crest features the classic United States Great Seal / Heraldic Eagle motif used heavily on American currency and military accoutrements throughout the 1800s.The Elements: The eagle holds an olive branch in its talons, a shield over its chest, and a flowing banner above its head reading "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (Out of many, one) surrounded by the text "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".

• Operating out of the famous Sheaf Works—and later their own dedicated factory on Cadman Street in Sheffield, England—the firm was founded in 1850 when Benjamin James Eyre partnered with Frederick Ward.

• The Reputation: They immediately made waves on the global stage, winning a prestigious Prize Medal at the Great Exhibition of 1851 for their world-class table cutlery.

• The Horizon: The firm actively targeted the international market, exporting premium razors, pocket knives, daggers, and etched Bowie knives to the United States, Canada, and South America. Because the partnership dissolved relatively quickly in 1857, items stamped with the official Eyre, Ward & Co. maker's mark are rare, existing only within a tight 7-year production window.
