Antique Steer Webster Sheffield England Desk Clerk Folding Pocket Knife Standing For Sale

Antique Steer & Webster Sheffield England mechanical office desk clerk folding pocket knife dating back to the Victorian era, circa 1845 to 1882. This incredibly scarce specimen features an advanced mechanical design where expanding the dual pen blades automatically drives the integrated metal bails outward to lock as structural display legs, converting the pocket tool into a self-standing desk instrument. The master tang features a beautifully clear stamped maker's mark reading STEER & WEBSTER SHEFFIELD. Both pen blades measure right around 1 1/2 inches, with the total closed metal frame tracking at 3 inches long. The spring mechanisms operate perfectly, driving the linked pivoting feet exactly as intended by the cutler. Frame and pins remain tight, solid, and structurally complete. A museum-grade example of historic 19th-century British mechanical cutlery design ready for a high-end specialty collection. Please look at the high resolution photos for condition details.
