This authentic 1930s Art Deco slip shade has been blacklight tested and is confirmed to be highly reactive Uranium Glass (Vaseline Glass). It emits a brilliant, strong neon green glow under a 395nm/365nm UV light due to the original uranium dioxide formulation used during its production. It looks like a beautiful classic soft amber-cream satin glass in natural daylight, and completely transforms under a blacklight.
The piece features a classic \"batwing\" fan shape accented by embossed floral and geometric patterns. The light amber satin glass provides a warm, soft glow when backlit by an incandescent bulb, characteristic of the vintage lighting styles popular during the Depression era.
This is an original replacement piece, suitable for completing a period-correct 5-light chandelier or wall sconce fixture from makers like Consolidated Glass, Lincoln, or Halcolite.
Dimensions:
• Length / Height: 7 inches
• Width: 4-3/8 inches
• Depth / Projection: 4-1/2 inches
Condition:
Very good antique condition. The frosted amber finish is clean and the embossed patterns remain crisp. There are no structural hairline cracks or repairs.
Notable cosmetic wear includes:
• Top Edge: Small rough chips and flea bites along the pointed top rim.
• Bottom Heel: A shallow, smooth conchoidal (clamshell) chip on the lower edge.
This wear is typical for authentic 1930s slip-glass shades and is generally concealed from view once the piece is correctly seated inside a vintage wall sconce or chandelier frame. Please review the detailed close-up photos for exact placement.
