Rare Antique Victorian / Edwardian Natural Fish Scale & Brass Filigree Hatpin
Beautiful and exceptionally rare example of late-19th to early-20th-century novelty costume jewelry. This antique hatpin features a beautifully domed circular head meticulously encrusted with real, layered natural fish scales. The scales show a gorgeous, authentic iridescent pearlescent finish that beautifully catches the light.
The front of the pin is centered by a tiered, intricately stamped brass filigree flower accent, while the reverse side features a matching decorative brass washer mount where the pin stem is structurally secured. ived intact in this condition.

Condition:
Excellent antique condition considering the delicate organic nature of the piece. The fish scales are wonderfully preserved, displaying beautiful natural cream/tan aging and iridescence. The brass filigree mounts on both sides show a fantastic, deep, uncleaned antique patina. The metal stem is firmly attached, straight, and sharp.
