Antique Victorian-era scrapbook album featuring 37 pages filled with an extensive collection of period paper ephemera. The album includes colorful chromolithographs, advertising pieces, floral and seed catalog imagery, Victorian children and women, birds and animals, holiday scenes, photographs, engravings, magazine illustrations, die-cuts and other decorative scraps.
The scrapbook was assembled using an antique illustrated geography book as its base, with many of the original maps, engravings, photographs and geographic headings still visible beneath and alongside the added pieces. Several identifiable advertising pieces are present, including early seed and flower advertisements, with one piece dated 1900.
The album has a red patterned cloth-covered binding with a large Madonna and Child image applied to the front. Approximately 37 pages of scrapbook material.
This is a genuine old scrapbook and shows substantial age and use throughout, including toning, tears, creases, edge wear, loose/deteriorated areas, staining, losses and wear to the binding and cover image. Please review all photographs carefully for condition and contents.
