Please note, I am NOT for hunting polar bears. This is a print on paper, with an image of a polar bear rug from circa 1897. This is not a real rug.Antique Etching ( copper plate printing process ) on vellum paper. There is a remarque etching as part of the plate impression, in the blank margins, of a feather quill pen and letter on paper. Condition is very good and clean for the age. Overall size is approximately 5 7/16 inches 8.5 inches with image size being approximately 3 7/8 by 5.5 inches. Date is circa 1897. Original etching. Artist and etchers name being one, are signed on lower left etching plate corner. I do not know the source but only that the etching is from an incomplete antique book. I am certain of the date and printing process. Most 19th century prints are from books. Utmost blank left margin edge shows slight evidence of removing etching from incomplete antique art book with a remainder mark from a previous tissue protector, which is no longer present, in order to remove etching from incomplete antique book.
