Antique World War I trench art artillery shell casing manufactured by Fried. Krupp A.G. in 1916, later hand engraved with detailed Egyptian Revival scenes including a seated pharaoh, pyramids, palm trees, winged scarab motifs, and hieroglyphic-inspired decorative elements.
The base retains the original maker\'s markings including Fried. Krupp A.G., Patent Kartusch Hülse, 1916, along with additional production markings (see photos). Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall and 2 3/8 inches in diameter.
This piece was acquired from the liquidation of a military museum collection, providing excellent provenance, although the exact history of the engraving is unknown.
Condition is consistent with age and use. The rim has been cut into a decorative form and exhibits wear, oxidation, scattered solder marks, scratches, and other age-related imperfections typical of antique trench art. Please review all photographs carefully for complete condition details.
A striking and uncommon example of authentic WWI-era trench art combining a genuine 1916 Krupp artillery shell casing with beautifully hand-engraved Egyptian Revival decoration. An excellent addition to any military, trench art, Egyptian Revival, or historical decorative arts collection.
