Description
The first item is a candle holder from the series \"Apollo\" designed by Nanny Still, a Finnish glass designer in 1970.
It is a vintage item from 1970s, made by Riihimaen Lasi, a glass manufacturer established in 1910 in Riihimäki, a city in southern Finland.
Nanny Still was one of the top designers at Riihimaen Lasi from 1940s to 1970s, and one of the most famous Finnish designers in the 20th century.
Beautiful, sophisticated Scandinavian glass that makes you want to enjoy the rich, swaying expression of the glass itself.
As the name \"Apollo\" suggests, this piece was influenced by the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969.
The curved, organic form of this unique design is reminiscent of the space age.
It consists of two parts: a transparent glass base and a red glass cover.
The cover part seems to have been made in several color variations such as clear and green.
When the cover is removed, an aluminum holder is set on the base, where candles or tea lights can be placed.
The design, coupled with its large size, makes it an overwhelming presence that will become an icon in your room.
The second item is a candleholder from the \"Hurricane\" series designed by Swedish designer Hans Agne Jakobsson in the 1960s.
It was manufactured and sold by AB Markaryd, a company he founded.
Hans Aune Jakobsson is also known for his \"Jakobsson lamps,\" which are made of thinly sliced and molded pine wood.
The lamp has a simple structure with a brass base and a glass cover.
The base has a holder for a candle.
There were many variations in size and color, and it seems that many different models were made.
The combination of thin glass and gold brass that emits a subdued shine creates a modern and stylish atmosphere.
The small triangular holes on the base also add a nice accent.
Although small in size, the delicate and somewhat fragile appearance of this piece is very impressive.
It would be nice to light a nice candle holder once in a while instead of using an electric light, and spend a relaxing time....
Or, even without lighting candles, you can enjoy the rich, shimmering expression of the glass itself.
Please enjoy the refined and beautiful appearance of Scandinavian glass.
Detailed Condition
A: Apollo There are traces of bubbles on the surface of the base and some sagging inside the glass.
There are some minor scuffs on the cover.
B: Hurricane There are what looks like small bubble marks on the inside of the glass and some distortion on the base. There is rust on the metal fittings.
As this is a vintage item, there are some minor scuffs, scratches, and water stains due to age and use, but there is no major damage that would detract from the aesthetics.
