The Atari Force second volume from DC Comics (1984–1985) is a 20-issue space opera set 25 years after the original team saved humanity by relocating them to a peaceful new dimension. The story shifts focus to the children and a new generation of allies alongside original commander Martin Champion, as humanity's utopian society has grown worn and fractured. The primary conflict kicks off when the multiversal villain, the Dark Destroyer, tracks humanity to their new cosmic refuge to exact revenge on Martin Champion and destroy the universe. Martin Champion, his son Tempest (Christopher), the warrior-mercenary Dart, and other alien companions must pilot Scanner One back into the dangerous depths of the multiverse to thwart the Destroyer's plans. Gerry Conway scripted the first 13 issues with definitive art by José Luis García-López, while Mike Baron and Eduardo Barreto took over creative duties through the final issue (#20), which also featured popular backup stories.
