★ BUCK 322 CONGRESS ★ LIMITED-PRODUCTION CAMILLUS-MADE CLASSIC ★
Offered is a very nice and somewhat unusual Buck Model 322 four-blade Congress, measuring approximately 3 1/2” closed.
The 322 represents an interesting chapter in Buck history. Produced during the mid-1990s for Smoky Mountain Knife Works, these traditional Congress knives were manufactured for Buck by Camillus Cutlery rather than being part of Buck’s regular in-house production. Collector references place production at approximately 4,000 examples, making the 322 a relatively limited-production Buck traditional.
This example features black sawcut delrin handles, nickel-silver bolsters, brass liners and pins, and Buck’s distinctive oval hammer-and-knife shield. The master blade carries the simple BUCK / U.S.A. tang stamp associated with these contract-produced knives.
All four blades remain very full with excellent profiles. The knife shows normal signs of age, handling and use, including surface and bolster marks along with some oxidation/discoloration within the blade wells. The handles remain attractive and solid with no cracks noted.
Good mechanics throughout. This is a solid, well-built four-blade Congress with the quality construction associated with Camillus-made traditional knives of the period.
The Buck 322 is an unusual model that doesn’t surface nearly as often as Buck’s more familiar traditional patterns. Its four-blade Congress configuration, Camillus manufacture, Smoky Mountain Knife Works connection and limited production give it considerably more collector interest than the typical Buck pocketknife.
