BALINESE BHOMA (BOMA) GUARDIAN MASK — CARVED WOOD WALL SCULPTURE
Large three-piece Balinese-style wall mask. Central hollowed face flanked by two separate openwork carved panels attached with slotted brass screws, with a painted arched nimbus (prabha) rising behind the crown. Hand carved and hand painted accents throughout the scrollwork, crown and facial detailing.
The composition — a fanged guardian face framed by scrolling foliate wings — follows the Bhoma form traditionally placed above doorways and temple gates in Bali as a threshold guardian. Known as Bhoma, Boma, Barong or Rakshasa. This is decor, not a wearable mask.
Braided picture wire mounted on two brass screws. Ready to hang.Paper MADE IN INDONESIA import label on the reverse.
