Natural banded slate slab with strong black linear streaks.
This is a solid piece of fine-grained metamorphic rock showing classic slate texture. The base color is medium to dark gray with prominent black carbonaceous (graphite-rich) banding running through it. The black streaks are aligned with the rock’s natural foliation.
When dry the surface has a matte to slightly silky look. When wet the banding becomes much more defined and the surface takes on a glossy sheen, as shown in the photos and video.
